Late night shooting

Leaving taking photos until after 10.15 pm does present some challenges, given that I don't really know how to use my very old flash gun (bought in 1980 something) on my Nikon. So much to learn.
In the absence of much knowledge, I looked for some shiny things that would allow me to take without flash but with extension tubes on - and ended up with this.

Close ups present a mixture of more appreciation of beauty in ordinary things and also the blemishes. This coffee pot really needs a polish. I like that the silver foil looks more like a luxurious metallic fabric when viewed this close.

Have ordered an LED ring light thing to go on the lens and help with close up shots. My compromise until I can afford a macro lens of my own.
