Going underground

Thanks Harry for the recommendation. We did the underground tour in Seattle. It was very good indeed. I'm fascinated to learn that after a fire destroyed down town Seattle, the city allowed residents to begin rebuilding their property without delay but asked them to build entrances on the second floor... 8 months later the city set about building roads and pavements a story higher than the previous ones. These 150 year old spaces remain intact and ignored. We went down there and poked around.

It was sooooo much more interesting than the Frye art gallery. I was promised a John Singer Sargent but upon enquiry I was told it was "probably in storage". If I owned a JSS I think I'd be tempted to know its location AT ALL TIMES. But hey, what do I know?
