Trust

A storm-rocked sleep, the guest room creaking like a galleon.

Sean kindly led the way from his place in Fahy to Westport, where we said goodbye. I followed the big signs to Galway. But when it comes to trust, a good map (or maybe the AA app) would have been better than a prayer. I ended up going the long way, the main road to Galway being rather bow-legged, swerving to the East, while I was heading to Spiddal so could have availed of a much faster route, towards the village of Leenane then straight down to Spiddal/Inverin.

But, despite being diverted by cops outside Galway (a serious accident apparently) and ending up in a very slow tailback, the drive was mostly unencumbered and pleasant enough, swooshing thought fields and stands of rain-glittery trees under shifting skies.

I arrived in time for a lovely meal, cod in cheese sauce and beans from the garden, and a nice white wine. Yummy.
