Joe Pye Weed

Love the common name for this Eupatorium. It grows to about 8' tall within a couple of years. Here it provides a solid backdrop to the pink herbaceous border where it has recently been hosting a white perennial sweet pea. I have also valued its solidity in the grass border to offset the airiness of the grasses. I am always amazed by the energy and vigour of this plant as it dies away to absolute nothing in the winter then powers back again in late spring. Useful plant for flower arrangers.
