The pass

We were up very early this morning to get Luke to St Pancras Station for him to take the Eurostar train to Paris, where he will get a connecting train on to Strasbourg. St Pancras is such an impressive station – it must be one of the most attractive stations in the world, and all the shops and restaurants make it very traveller friendly. I spent the rest of the day feeling miserable that Luke has now gone….

After Adam’s week of pre-season rugby training he had a mini rugby festival today. The start of the rugby season heralds the start of the autumn for me, although today was fairly pleasant once that early wind had died down. It was tough playing matches today when they were all tired and sore with aching muscles from the week’s training, but that’s the way it goes. Adam plays second row for the 2nd team and he played very well today, but is now lying in an ice bath!!

I bumped into a friend at the rugby whose son was in the 1st rugby team with Luke last year – her son has gone off to New Zealand to work as a gap student in a school and to play for the Auckland rugby club…and she won’t see him for a full year! She got a little tearful telling me how much she was missing him, and I was very thankful that Luke has not gone for that long. It is hard when they grow up and leave home.
