I went down to the harbour in Muscat. The souk is down there and judging by the traffic jams, there must have been a sale on.

The harbour is on a rocky peninsula. Dotted amongst are small cylindrical structures painted dark pink and called Portugese forts. Because there used to be some.

In this one, the canon pointed to the town. And I'm not sure that was the point if the forts. Could be that's where they went wrong.

Through the door in the fort, I could see the observation platform which looks like a space ship. Or an ice cream gone wrong. Strange but interesting.
