Today's the day ........................... to take to the streets

Everywhere you looked there was a blip today - because this weekend is the annual feast of delights that is Kendal's Mintfest.

These are some of the members of the 20-strong community street-band from Ulverston called Blast! Furness . Their music - with roots somewhere between the carnival of Brazil and the jazz of New Orleans - was totally joyous and completely irresistible. And they were just one of the many things on offer in the streets of the town for free.

It's a great place to live .......................
