A violin or a trumpet?

These two guys regularly play in Milngavie. They are continental and their music sounds like you are in France. Except that they have taken the trouble to learn a number of local pieces as well. And they smile and make eye contact with passers-by, even if they give nothing.

I am intrigued by the 'violin' being played by the standing man, there is no belly to the instrument to magnify the sound, but a trumpet horn does the trick. Giving quite a unique and bizarre sound.
