make it stop

the noise the alarm clock makes at 10:45 is not what you want to hear, after crawling into bed a mere 3hrs earlier after night shift... Staying in bed makes it difficult to return to the land of the daylight living if you sleep longer - especially if the next day you have to be at work by 6:30am... It's a balance only few like to juggle. I'm one of them. I like the night shift - the eerie quiet, the witching hours & all the tasks that come with it. Sometimes its a clinical procedure - sometimes its merely a short chat with a patient who can't sleep or in need of pain relief so they can get back to sleep....funnily enough, most patients have more empathy for nightshift staff than they do the morning or afternoon nurse. There is something quiet delightful about crawling into bed at 8am on Monday, knowing that most people are bitching about the fact they are going to work & their week is just beginning...more so when its cold & wet.
Bed is a place I sometimes wish I had more time to be...but only sometimes. Like now, when i am sick.
