Buzzy Bee

Im sure every kiwi child has one or had one of these.

It first made it's appearance in the 1930's and has delighted many kiwi kids and even given to ex Pat Kiwi's kids and grandies as gifts.

It foms part of our 'kiwiana' culture, right up there with edmonds baking powder, sunlight soap, red socks, hokey pokey ice cream, L&P soft drink, sheep and great NZ Films.

A South African friend and I did a kiwiana day on Waitangi Day a number of years ago. Started off at the Whakarewarewa Maori Living Village, meat pies and tomatoe sauce for lunch. Hokey pokey ice cream, fairy bread, L&P, to be followed by kiwi movies "Whale Rider" and "Goodbye Pork Pie". HSe wasn't too sure about "Goodbye Pork Pie". Don't think she quite got our humour.
