Setting the scene

Tonight we at SIE hosted a gala dinner for the fabulous winners of the Young Innovators Challenge, who've been working on their ideas all summer. This was taken while we were waiting for the guests to arrive - funders, academics who had helped us spread the word, people representing some of Scotland's enterprise/entrepreneurial networks.

I'm always anxious at this part of the evening, hoping that everyone will turn up, and that they will enjoy themselves. I shouldn't have worried, it was a fantastic evening. The guests were very impressed with our young winners, who all gave 1minute pitch at the start of the evening then joined the others guests for dinner. The conversation was very lively at my table all night, and I could tell from the noise level in bathe room that it was the same at all the tables.
