The beautiful Bride (a bit of her anyway)

We attended a Hindu wedding today, it was wonderful. Had very little idea what was happening but it was incredibly colourful and loud, lots of fruit, leaves and flowers, smoke and incense sticks
I was worried that the "priest" would not have been heard by those at the back, over the music. There was taped music to start with but then a couple of guys came in and played live; one on the Nadaswaram and the other on a Thavil, a sort of clarinet and drums. Brilliant, very complex and very hypnotic When I asked about this later I was told it would not matter as the service was in Sanskrit, a very ancient language that very few understood. Also the music was loud because sneezing during the service is very unlucky. If the music is very loud no one would hear the sneeze. If no one heard it could not be unlucky. Or maybe they were just pulling my leg.
