Do my oxters really smell?

We were camped at the Feughside Caravan Park near Banchory, a lovely quiet site with good views up the Dee. There is a sizeable Swallow and Martin population living nearby, and they are beginning to think of flying south for the winter. In the early morning they were on the wires in good numbers.
