Just because there's an 'r' in the month ......
....does not mean that Summer is over, dagnabbit!
Determined not to be thwarted again by our aberrant bin-man, I took the rubbish up to the roadside before the clock had struck eight. I then sat in the car with a good book to wait for him to arrive. Not for any malicious or vengeful purpose, just because I like to know these things. It also meant that I was in a position to be able to scare away any crows that might get it into their heads to rip the bags open and cause carnage.
Having just completed Tolkien's translation of Beowolf, it's time for something a little lighter in the shape of Nick Harkaway's 'Angelmaker'.
After about half an hour of a rear passenger armrest digging into my back, I had to get out of there and settled instead upon the questionable comfort of a rock on the dunes. It was still an improvement.
Then it was time to enjoy a wee stroll along the beach on what is still a beautiful, sunny morning. Too good an opportunity to miss the feeling of sand between your toes.
Got back at half past nine to find the rubbish gone.
What time it'll be next week I haven't the foggiest. I just hope that I'll still be able to walk barefoot on the sand.
