projection in the park

Took this photo while walking to work this morning. I cut through Victoria Park and got some nice pictures of pine cones oozing resin. As I was photographing them a dog jumped in the pond after a ball. A group of 7 dog walkers were at the side of the pond and the following scene unfolded.
1: come here Fizz.
Dog paddles to the side then changes mind.
1: Fizz! Come here you silly boy !
2: Don't listen tae her Fizz.
3: He's just having some fun.
4: Aye it looks great in the water
1: Fizz!! Come here I said !!!
3: Ach don't shout at the poor dog.
1: But he'll scare the swans. Fizz !! Come here right now!!
2: Don't you let her bully you Fizz!
3: Aye you splash away!
4: He's just enjoying himself!
At this point Fizz is paddling himself into a whirlpool.
1: Fizz get out the water! Now!!
2: Don't let her shout at you!! Don't shout at him he's fine!
1: He's not fine he'll frighten the wildlife.
3: You mean you will, if you keep shouting like that !!
Finally Fizz comes onto dry land.
1: That's it, good boy. But you're no getting a biscuit!!
3: That's alright I've got a biscuit for you!
Patting Fizz.
2: Was your mummy a mean old mummy ...?
1: Don't indulge him!!
4: Haha.. a chancer after my own heart is old Fizz...

At that I left them to their pantomime.
What I started to sense was that all these people were projecting their own personal issues onto the situation with the dog. It really was remarkable. You could almost join the dots of their relationship to one another through this wee situation with the dog in the park. How often do we give our selves away when we think we're talking about one thing but are actually playing out a whole other scenario?
