Made in America. Day 2
Another fairly slow start that was mainly attributable to our hangovers. The weather had also turned and by the time we got there it felt like it could downpour at any moment. Just as we made our way to the gates the security staff rushed together and began sliding fences across the road
We are evacuating the festival due to upcoming dangerous weather, please make your way to the exists
And they couldn't have timed it better. All of a sudden the heavens opened and a huge rumble of thunder echoed across the skies. And people started running everywhere. I mean come on, it's only a bit of bad weather. Anyway, we found some shelter and set up camp there for a while until they reopened the festival, regardless of the continuing heavy downpour and thunder and lightening.
And there we were, finally in the festival, kitted out in ponchos and back at the free beer tent. I actually didn't have a poncho and had instead fashioned a raincoat out of a bin bag, I've heard it's all the range for A/W 2014. As the sun set we watched a band that none of us had heard of whilst dancing in some of the heaviest rain I've ever experienced. And I've got to say, that's probably my highlight of the weekend. This photo was taken just before everyone ditched their ponchos and fully gave in to Mother Nature.
Pharrell followed and provided a set choc-a-bloc of sing-a-long hits! Kings of Leon closed the festival and were far better than when I'd seen them previously. For a festival with a fairly average line up and effectively set down a street, it totally exceeded my expectations.
