guarding the boundary

I'll never trust the weather forecast again! Last night it was for sun - all day. So I made the decision to climb Helvellyn and bring you some fantastic views from the top.

A pleasant walk from Dunmail Raise up beside Raise Beck, though wet underfoot and a bit awkward in places. At Grisedale Tarn it turned nasty. All the way to the summit it was misty with a headwind and occasional drizzle. There was no view from the top but I walked and waited and chatted to others who were also hoping for the cloud to lift. Finally, just as I'd decided to go down (by a shorter route than originally planned) I caught a glimpse of Red Tarn. Then Ullswater came into view :)

This sheep is by a boundary post from the former Cumberland/Westmorland border.
