Whitewater

This is the River Leven at Backbarrow. Incredible to think now, but at the height of the massive Cumbrian floods last autumn the river completely overwhelmed the bridge and brought down the road parapets on either side. Amazing the bridge survived at all! Needless to say it is still closed to traffic awaiting repairs.
