The Memorial Hall, College

At the beginning of term meeting - and as the Centenary of the First World War is remembered - we were reminded of The Shadow of War. Seven hundred and fourty nine members of the Marlborough community who enlisted in the Army were killed, including fourteen members of staff. No other school, apart from Eton suffered such a huge loss. It would have equated to more than the total of the College at the time.

The names of all those who sacrificed their lives are listed on the walls of The Memorial Hall. Over the next four years, the College will mark their contribution in a variety of different ways.
