The study of small things

I spotted this spider in the garden and was extremely impressed with its web which spanned over a metre, though the spider itself was tiny. I love the light on the raindrops and the way the spider is enclosed by a circle of light green which draws the eye to the centre of the shot. I've decided to do a series of close-up studies as I've recently photographed a lot of castles, beaches and people and I want to experiment to see how much use I would get out of a zoom lens.
