A day in Seattle.
What to do with just one day in Seattle.
Started the day with a coffee and breakfast in one of the many coffee shops. Went to e-bar at Nordstrom. This seems to be a bit like Harvey Nic's judging by the prices of the goods in the store but the cheese and bacon bagel in the coffee bar was very good!
Chris wanted to visit the Space Needle so we took the monorail, both built for the 1962 World Trade Fair. Great views from the top of Elliot Bay and the city.
Then we spent the afternoon with Savour Seattle on a Gourmet Food tour. Fantastic. We had fun, met lots of locals and other tourists and above all tried great food!
The cupcakes were my least favourite as they were too sweet but were actually savoury! The light ones are bacon and maple syrup pancake flavour and the dark ones are spiced and contain Campbell's tomato soup! My favourites were the Korean?Fusion food and Clam chowder. But we had so many tasters I took pictures so I could remember! One place was a Truffle cafe in Pike street Market. We had a sample of Leek and Potato soup without and then with truffle oil. An amazing difference.
Chris liked the Pike Brewing Company best! After a tour we had two samples of ale. I preferred the Scotch ale (Kilt Lifter!) even though I'm not a beer drinker and Chris liked the 'Naughty Nellie' a bit like Copper Dragon or a Trappist apparently.
The Pike Street Market is fascinating so we went back for a further look and of course had to go back to Pike Brewery pub. No need for dinner tonight!
