Zijlstra

Today a backblip.

I went to the theater last night to see the band Zijlstra.
It's a jazzband.
Jeroen Zijlstra is the singer of the band and the inventor of the genre "maritime cabaretjazz". He grew up in the village Den Oever in Holland where a big fishermen's fleet moors.
I once spoke with the brother of Jeroen who was a fisherman for most of his life. Real funny man and great storyteller about the life aboard a fishingship.
With melancholy in his voice Jeroen sings about the same. The life of fishermen at sea and on shore.
Sieta and I had a really nice night out. Also bought their latest album.
