Last goodbyes
The last of my grandpa themed photos for a while. This morning my grandpa left our house for the last time. We said our goodbyes and closed the lid of the casket. Then my family carried him out to the car which was a lovely tribute and I was so pleased to do it. The flowers on his casket were beautiful bright spring flowers which he would have loved.
The funeral went well - the mass was lovely and any wee hiccups probably would have been my grandpas favourite parts anyway. It was lovely to see such a big crowd turn out for my lovely grandpa. En route to the cemetery we passed my grandparents old home. My grandpa loved it there, and ideally would have been happy to stay there until he died. Sadly that was not to be, but it was lovely for him to drive past one more time.
Grandpa has been buried in a beautiful cemetery in Avonhead Park, very near to the 2011 chch earthquake memorial. It was a stunning day, warm and not too windy. He would have loved it there.
