Spynie Palace

This is the view looking north from the top of Bishop David's Tower, built in the fifteenth century by the powerful Bishop David Stewart of Moray. The loch visible is Spynie Loch and at that time it was a sealoch, five miles long and reached to the foot of the palace from the Moray Firth. It was drained in the nineteenth century and reduced to this puddle. Lossiemouth is just left of this picture.
