Refuge

This morning, despite a breeze, we set off to Druridge bay.
We love Druridge bay!

Coming over the dunes buckets in hand we all gasped and wowed at the view; the glistening sea and mile upon mile of stunning sand. We excitedly got the beach shelter out and Mum and Master B ran down to the waters edge. We must have been in the eye of the storm for minutes later we were quite literally hit by the wind and sandblasted to smithereens! Mr B flung himself on the beach shelter as its pegs were ripped out, I grabbed everything I could before it was blown away and Mum manhandled the kids up the dunes. Back in the calm of the car we inspected for damage... non sustained. Took a while to wash the sand from our scalps later though!

We sandwiched at the marina in Amble and found refuge in the harbour. Sheltered from the wind the island building of yesterday resumed and the sun appeared.

The kids gallantly fortified their 'island' until the sea took its coarse. Master Bs mind blowing realisation of the last 48hours... you can't control the sea!
