Packhorse bridge
Until about 50 years ago this old packhorse bridge in the PeakDistrict stood at the hamlet of Goytsbridge a couple of miles downstream and was fairly busy. When the area was flooded to make way for the Errwood Reservoir the houses were submerged and the bridge was reconstructed upstream. Now instead of heavily laden horses crossing, walkers exploring the delights of the local hills and valley can cross the River Goyt here.
