Water of Life

We visited Winchester Cathedral today. This statue is in the crypt. The sculptor is the same man who created The Angel of the North. I loved it - it is so simple but very moving. Because the crypt is beneath the water table, for many weeks of the year it is under water but that is exactly what the sculptor wanted. In the bowl, he is holding water which is the source of life so he is effectively holding his life in his hands. as I say, I just loved it.
