Euonymus planipes

Here is an interesting plant, native to Korea, Japan, Sakhalin Island and Eastern Siberia. This flat stalked spindle tree has been very slowly growing in a pot outside the studio for years. I think next spring, it will go into the ground.

Small green flowers emerge from mahogany colored pointed buds followed by lobed red fruits that spit to reveal brilliant orange seeds in the autumn along while the leaves are turning reds. Definitely something to take notice of in the fall.
