Herdwick Sheep

The name comes from the old Norse Herdvyck meaning sheep pasture. Introduced by the `norse these sheep are amazingly hardy. Although lower on lambing and perceived wool quality than some of the other breeds, they can survive solely on forage and have a tendency to be territorial so do not stray, such cuties and my favourite breed. They are also not averse to posing for photographs.
