Quirky eatery experience

It was one of my meet-Tom-for-chew-and-chat nights. Different this time because Carl decided on the spur of the moment to join us. Tonight's restaurant was The Pig's Ear, a place I'd never heard of before.

It was great! Fr starters, it's a lovely room, which I'm sure would be even lovelier early on a summer's evening when the view of Trinity College's playing field could be appreciated. Apart from the place itself, the menu turned out to be adventurous, and presentation of the food was quirky and imaginative (Tom's coffee came with sugar in an actual sugar bag and milk in a bottle). And it wasn't just the look of the food which was good: the taste was good too. All in all, a definite plus for The Pig's Ear, and somewhere I'd recommend unreservedly. We three retired to Buswell's Hotel bar for drinks afterwards, and Carl and I finished the night in La Cave winebar. The 3.30 Nitelink came in handy.

If the food presentation in the restaurant was quirky, these walking sticks in a shop window on the way there were certainly quirky too, and were crying out to be Dublin Shooter's Blip number 999 (the sign of the upside-down beast?).
