I'm Ready!

Getting ready for winter...first stage complete. Firewood delivered and stacked by woodchucks. The saying is: Firewood warms you 4 times...once when you're cutting and splitting it, twice when you stack it, the third time, when you haul it indoors to the fire and the fourth when the fire is burning.

It's lovely in the winter to see the flames dancing in the stove...like a puppet theater in flame-colored costumes...Punch and Judy battling each other with orange licking whips. Sometimes the fire stirs old memories and it's time to call a far-away friend and have a laugh or story told. I look forward to orange-gold evenings now.
