Rare Wemyss Pig
Wemyss Ware was produced at the Fife Pottery in Kirkaldy, Scotland, from 1883 to 1930.
The pottery was named after nearby Wemyss Castle. It was cheap and cheerful at the time, vividly decorated with flowers, fruit and birds. It has become highly collectible in the past few decades.
Both the large and small pigs have a slot in the back to be used as piggy banks. The large ones, such as the one above, were often used as door stops and did not survive.
The sun shone for exactly one hour today. I was not fast enough to make use of it and perchance find a wild crocus or a black squirrel.
