Snow Down Under

MAINTENANCE :

I'm behind Max's garage (well it's really more of a storage shed for collecting garden things ......& rubbish), where I have 4 peach & 2 nectarine trees. This morning I mixed up 25g of copper oxychloride powder in 5L of water & I sprayed all my trees before the buds open. The leaf curl last year was horrendous, I know I can't get rid of it, but if I can alleviate it a little, will be a help. The cottage is on the right.

I'm told we've had 21 consecutive days of Summery sunshine with no wind. Personally I'd love a nice shower of rain.

Poor Lyn came to see me this afternoon, looking very miserable. It must be 11 weeks since she has done any work in the garden, after their 6 weeks holiday plus another 5 weeks. She has a sciatic nerve causing excruciating pain down her leg & is unable to stand. I miss her heaps ! I'm going to advertise for a 'hand weeder' in our local rag to tide me over. She has always been so energetic & full of 'get up & go', it is difficult for her to sit still. The pain is getting her down.

Have had a busy week with friends from Auckland & Wellington in need of entertainment & nourishment. Next week I'll be able to comment more. Hallelujah !
