Soapbox Billy

Went to hear Billy Bragg today who was bringing his protest against excessive bonuses for bankers - particularly those banks now in public ownership...we're looking at you RBS.

It was a fantastic speech, delivered standing on one of the concrete bollards outside the old RBS HQ in St Andrew's Square. Well reasoned and passionate, avoiding the niave ideology that can sometimes get in the way of the strong case for equality and social justice. You've got to love a man who can link the two numpties in West Lothian who drove their car along the frozen canal to those who oversaw the collapse of the banks! He also made a great case around questioning why it is public services who are the hardest hit victims of this spectacular market failure. All round good guy. Come the revolution and all that...

Decent press turnout, but it seems some of those I thought were lensmen for the media were in fact fellow blippers!! Check out Meles and also DaveH Should've guessed there'd be a few of us...
