Day 5: Beach.

We went to the beach today at Roses. The weather was great for it because, despite a few ominous rain clouds still lingering from last night, the sun managed to make an appearance just as we arrived. The sea was a bit cold, so a few friends and myself decided to hire out one of the pedalo-slide-hybrid things; I've always wanted to go on one and it didn't disappoint. The man who hired it out to us was very slack with the timings, so it was well worth the three euros for about an hour and a half. There was a bit of debacle whereby a fellow orchestral-driven pedalo decided that it would be a good idea to come over and try to capsize our pedalo. To cut a long story short, it ended up with the one person on our gondola who decided not to change into swimwear being stolen by the opposition and coming extremely close to wishing that he had brought a change of clothes.

For lunch we went to an extremely traditional Spanish Flamenco restaurant. And by traditional, I mean entire fish on a plate, unknown meats and plenty of chips. As a near vegetarian, this lunch wasn't the best of tour so far. The entertainment was top notch though; there was a singer who decided to humour us by singing some pop songs in English which was great fun. Whilst all of this was happening, an extremely elderly man decided to grace us with his dance moves, which turned out to be even better than the music. Soon everyone was dancing and by the time we had to leave, our tour party got a round of applause from the locals who were trying to enjoy their meal in peace.

Then in the afternoon we went on a Catamaran trip around the bay which was lovely. My friend decided to have a bit of a laugh and save one of the prawn claws from her meal - originally intending to joke someone by putting it on their pillow. However, one thing led to another and now the prawn has a Facebook account...
