Belgium road markers
An old Belgian road marker.
In the Netherlands we have such signs for cyclists. They are therefore much lower and are to be viewed from above.
However, this is a very old signpost.
The pole is the type of Michelin, the Belgian roads marked from the 1930s until well into the 1960s, and that was part of the collections of the Musée de la Route in Bergen. They were manufactured by the same process as in France: lava plates 1.5 cm thick, coming from Volvic, were in an oven enamel and then deployed in concrete posts, as shown in the photo.
It was the manufacturer of concrete elements Simon, from Péruwelz, that the piles produced under the brand Tubarsi. In 1935 there were 350 posts spread across the whole of Belgium. There are still a dozen, carefully preserved by nostalgics of our road assets, in particular the Régie des Ponts et Chaussées Stavelot et Musée de la Route
