Fare thee well good servant...

....today we said goodbye to our long serving silver estate car 'Silverwing'* (not an Audi, but the classic model and colour of the Edinburgh middle classes).

Earlier, I joined the cycle club 9.20am ride for a scoot around south central Fife past Otterston Loch and Scout HQ. The group was well matched and we maintained a steady pace throughout our 70km loop.

Later, I struggled in vain to to get our usually trusty Mazda to fire into life, perhaps its spirit anticipated what awaited, so a call to my 'Value Add' bank account service with The AA resulted in some Home Start and a short drive to the drop-off garage. Nancy was visibly sad as our trusty Mazda that had conveyed us on so many family adventures was parked-up and so the sense of something coming to an end was strong. Owen and I maintained stiff upper lips as you'd expect.

Later, we visited young Nadiyya in The Sick Kids and she looked just great after a massive op. Her mum and dad, despite their lack of sleep, looked happy and relaxed and must be very pleased with her progress. Good work guys. Nadiyya was particularly pleased that it is World Beard Day today.

Now I'm soaking my tired thighs in the bath, blipping and half-listening to Owen's observance of the new series of Dr Who on TV.

* Silverwing was named by a 3 year old Owen.
