Open Wide And Say R!
There's an R in the month and native oysters are back in season. Yay!
I went to the New Hall English Wine Festival in Purleigh today. One of the things I was looking forward to was sampling the new season Maldon oysters, washed down with a crisp white. They're so delicious. The young lad in my pic had never tried one before but he put it away in style. :)
One's entry ticket acted as a token. We were given a tiny glass and could taste four different wines. I tried the Bacchus which was soft and not dry enough for my taste. After a ride around the vineyard in a pink caravan/trailer I sampled the Huxelrebe. While I was sipping the spicy nectar I was interviewed by a reporter from The Essex Chronicle. The wine had made me a bit garrulous, amazing how he got my gabble down in shorthand.
I decided to use my two remaining tokens for one glass of the sparkling rosé. Gorgeous.
I sat with some young children watching Mr Doo. He juggled with fire, rode a unicycle and told jokes. I have the sense of humour of a five-year-old. :)
