The first Saturday of September is the day of the Village fete. Always a risky one weather wise, but we survived without a soaking. And a good day was had by all. Fabulous fancy dress, bizarre pet show, delicious cake competition, sumo wrestling, the inevitable tombola, crafty stuff, pony rides and of course the best tea and cakes around.

The finale is always the races. The kids love them - and everyone gets a prize!
In fact next year, perhaps we should dispense with the rest of the fete (with the exception of the teas) and just have the races. So much easier.
