summer's back
Summer returned today, beautiful day for our annual pilgrimage down the road to the 20th Wirksworth Arts Festival.
This is a fantastic event where peoples homes, churches, halls, barns etc are opened up to display artists skills. Wirksworth is full of small alleys and backstreets to explore and over recent years some wonderful restoration of cottages and grand buildings has taken place. We spent a full 5 hours wondering around enjoying the odd drink and snacks in pop up bars and cafes and listening to the wonderful musicians around every corner. This old town has been transformed into a wonderful arty community.
Other news today from Brisbane, where our son Dan is staying, is that his semi pro football team got knocked out of the NFL playoff semi finals, but having won the Queensland cup and still in the last 16 of the FA cup it can be regarded as a good season. A credit to Dan as 1 of 2 allowed visa players.
However the most interesting news from Dan and Lotty came via a txt this morning to say they had a 3.5m python in their garden, hanging from a tree about to strike at one of the chickens. Fortunately the landlords daughter is a trained handler and it was caught before it eat either the chickens or their small dogs!! A photo was sent of Lotty with the python hanging around her neck (and she screams and runs at the mere sight of a spider !!)
