The M & Ms

The M & Ms and their last name starts with M!

Mitzi and Max -- These two are almost inseparable. When they were given to us in February of 2011 they had been together since they were about six weeks old. When they were just a little over a year old they had four puppies. At that time their family lived in Fresno, California, in a residence that had 20 acres of land.

Then the family moved to Orange County, California, to a mobile home park, which had rules that explained only one dog per family unit. So pretty quickly they were in trouble with their neighbors because they had two dogs and one (Max) had a fairly big bark.

That's when we were notified about these two little Shih-tuzs. We thought we were being given one when we drove to Orange County to get them. We came home with two because the owners didn't think the two could stand to be separated. I think that was a huge gesture of kindness. Because I think it broke the hearts of the owners to let them go and they really had only planned on giving away one, Max, the black male. When we left with both of them, we were surprised and thrilled.

Even though we have three dogs -- Chloe, Mitzi, and Max, these two are a team, a couple, a cohort. They act like a married couple even though they no longer can have puppies (we had them neutered because we did not want to deal with puppies).

So this morning, this was the view from my bed. These two are watching the meadowland behind our house from the master bedroom on the second floor of our house.
