Haresceugh Castle
The farm that nestles cosily with the remains of Haresceugh Castle, a manorial centre mentioned in the 12th Century and pulled down around 1820. All that remains are one massive wall and a rectangular building. Situated high up in the fells near Alston/Renwick this remnant of a castle is said to be more than just a pele tower. Little is known about it. Although when I passed today the , I presume, some of the submerged ruined foundations were lit up in the sidelight. The shot is from the front of the site as it was not possible to take a picture of the aforesaid scene due to multiple tractor, sheep other farm stuff activity at that point.
