Stubshaw Cross Heritage Garden

This little garden was built in 2003 I think! It recognises and recounts the heritage of Stubshaw and Ashton villages. Originally Stubshaw had only 8 inhabitants and the garden denotes the families occupations. The metal work that surrounds the garden depicts those occupations which included farmer, miner, tailor, gardener and baker. If you look closely you might be able to pick out two ears of wheat, the mining wheel, the roses. Apparently the cross signifies the spot where the boundary lines met. I thought it looked quite pretty in the morning sun.
