The Millennium Window
This stained glass window can be found in St Peter & St Paul Parish Church in Dinton in Buckinghamshire.
We called here on our way back from Haddenham Garden Centre where we met G & M for a coffee or two....it was good to see them & catch up with all the news. Prior to that we called around to see N & R at their place. It was good to be invited & as we left we met R's Mum & partner who were just calling.
On our way home from Haddenham & Dinton we diverted to see Daph for an hour. When we left there we came home & I knocked up a couple of Lasagnes. One for tonight & one for the freezer -tonight's was good, lets hope the other one is as good !
I was lucky to go into Dinton Church. I called just as the Church warden was shifting a piano for a service at Hartwell & he let me in for a nose around. This is another of those churches that is normally kept locked, but obviously God was smiling on me today well it is Sunday...
The window, by Paul San Casciani, is a very clever design & is directly related to the church & the parish with lots of symbolism contained therein. St Peter & St Paul can be seen at the top & the Dinton Hermit (John Bigg) can be seen bottom left & Dinton Castle bottom right.. In the centre you can see a sword which according to legend is the sword that William Cromwell left at Dinton Hall following the Battle of Navesby. There is lots of other stuff going on there too, too numerous to mention here but it is worth a "Google".
Warm sunny day...
