Thoughts of a Mummy

We. Are. Family.

It's been a wonderful family Sunday, spending the day together.

Our day started with DM having a dance audition for a local pantomime. DM didn't want to go at first, saying that she was scared. I didn't want to force her and told her that it was totally her choice. Both Peach and I knew that DM would enjoy herself and knew that come tomorrow she would be disappointed that she "missed out". In the end, we spoke and she decided that she wanted to go. It may have been because she was scared, but she also didn't want to tidy her Lego away. She had just got it all out to build and now had to tidy away and get washed and dressed. The things my girls will do and say to get our of tidying up!

We went to the auditions and DM saw a few of her dance friends there. The first audition was split into groups of 10, DM was in the second group (there were 6 groups, she went with her group and came back smiling; she'd had fun and liked it. The next stage was the finals, they split the children into three groups. The first group went and came back with a sweet each, apparently the sign that they've not been selected. The second group went and came back with a sweet too. Some of the children looked so disheartened and I started to panic. Why was I putting DM in a situation that could make her upset and cry? At this point I felt the need to reassure her, I told her how proud I was that she went through with the audition. It doesn't matter whether she got picked or didn't, the fact that she tried, even when she was a little scared, was a good reason for me to love her that little bit more (if that was possible) and be so extremely proud! DM was in the last group, she went off and seemed relaxed about it. I however was a bag of nerves, I started to feel nauseous with the nerves and tried to redirect me thoughts. Then she came back, she was the half of that final group that they had decided not to choose. DM was still smiling and was chuffed that she had a sweet! Thankfully, DM had enjoyed herself and enjoyed being a part of the auditions.

Peach took Aj, R&P to the park while we were out. They had a wonderful time playing snakes & ladders there, and even went into the woods on the hunt for a geocache.

The girls had an afternoon of playing in the garden; we got the tent out for them to play in. Today's photo is of Rubes and her static hair, it made us laugh as we could see it standing on end from where we were inside the house.

All in all a lovely weekend just us. Just Peach and his Dixon Ladies. :)
