Full throttle weekend

What a weekend! Today was the climax of three days at the Beaulieu Autojumble, where our fund-raising project for the Guild of Motoring Writers Benevolent Fund exceeded our expectations. It was a lot of hard work running our jam-packed stall with a rota of volunteers, but it was also great fun. The weather was kind, the sun shone, the crowds were in jolly mood and it was altogether a good experience.

Our target was to raise £2,000 with entirely donated material in the form of motoring books, car press packs, model cars and other petrolhead paraphernalia, and I'm awaiting the final figure but we easily exceeded that. A great result.

A highlight today was meeting fellow blippers, the lovely Annie and Chris, who called by the stall this afternoon and made time for a very enjoyable chat.

After three days of driving a Relay van kindly loaned by Citroen for our venture, this short-term van woman is now home, exhausted but happy that a slightly crazy fund-raising idea worked out pretty ok.
