Yellowstone

People from every nation where there is wealth come to see this miracle: steam rising from geysers and boiling springs, microbial mats of bright orange spilling from pools of turquoise blue.... Bison, elk, bighorn sheep, bears. All this and good roads, hot running water safe to drink, toilets well stocked with tissue and hand sanitizer, soft beds, heat, safety. They come from China, Germany, Holland, Norway. They speak Hebrew, Portuguese, Korean. They clutch iPhones and iPads, aim Nikons and Canons. They come to walk the boardwalks and to see this glory which, if you have a little wealth, you can enjoy.

Meadows and wide clean lakes, massive waterfalls, deep canyons gashed vermillion and flecked with gold. Wind shushes in the pines, tall grasses wave away from the lake, wave to us. Welcome, grandmothers. Bask here.
