Jenny and the Bear
When I got home today Orla had already done her homework. I checked over it and saw this book in the folder. She had read it with my mum. It looks like she had it instead of her normal reading book. It's a story about a wee girl and her bear who both get sick because her mummy smokes in the house and her daddy smokes in the car. Now, I get that they want to educate people about the dangers of second-hand smoke, but I really object to my child being sent home with a book like this. We're not even smokers, just to add insult to injury. Surely this kind of literature should be targeted to people who need it, rather than blanket bombing people through schools? I'm quite cross about this.
