Sierra Nevada Cable Car..........
Riding the cable car back down to Sierra Nevada from Borreguiles.
There weren't any windows in the cable car as such, just a small vent large enough to get my camera through, hence the bizarre angle of the shot.
I was suprised to find the cable cars and ski lifts working at this time of year, i thought the whole place would have been shut down.
There are still a few hotels and restaurants open to cater for visitors, the majority of whom seem to be cyclists. The road cyclists are busy going up and down the main road that runs from Granada almost to the top of Veleta, which site at around 3100 mtrs above sea level, if you're not an elite cyclist you're in the wrong place. Alternatively if you're feeling suicidal you can take your mountain bike up in the cable car then on the ski lift the the top station 2800 mtrs above sea level and launch your self down one of the many trails that criss cross the mountainside, if the overall drop isn't enough there are jumps of varying sizes littering the trail on the way down.
If you haven't brought your own mountain bike there is a cycle shop within Sierra Nevada that will hire you a bike plus helmet and various body armour to protect yourself should you come a cropper.
Either way, road or trail, you'd need to be extremely fit to safely negotiate either surface.
I'll be back next year to give the bike a try........
