Under the spreading...oh!

The chestnut tree in next door's garden was pollarded today - it was about time, but it was still a bit sad to see such a lovely spreading tree chopped back in this way. It does look as though it's been done properly though :-) I did appreciate its spreading branches to sit under in the very hot weather we had this summer, though its branches also spread over the area where my rotary clothes line is so I was always concerned about bird mess! We had a pigeon's nest in the tree earlier, and also a squirrel always comes and takes the chestnuts and buries them for the winter. I am afraid we may lose our little friend to elsewhere next year!
